Echoes of the Soviet apartment of the 80s with its cheap laminate flooring, a closet covered with Red Poppies wallpaper and flowered tulle. A vivid contrast between the new and the old: a refrigerator covered with magnets from Krasnoyarsk, Barcelona, Belokurikha, a magnet with the image of a granddaughter, a magnet given to a grandfather. Grandma herself has not traveled for a long time, but she has a whole world on her refrigerator, brought by her grandchildren and children.

My grandmother loves plants very much, so even in winter, when the summer season is closed, she grows cucumbers on the windowsill. If she can't go to the cottage, then the cottage is going to her! There definitely weren't any fresh cucumbers in Siberia in winter, but we had pickles in a jar! Like the taste of sauerkraut, I remember the taste of these cucumbers.

Everyday life can be seen through the bright pattern of grandma's kitchen tablecloth: a bag of black tea left for reuse, salt, pepper, glasses, a bread box, a saucer and a list of products that you need to remember to buy in the store. These mundane objects convey the atmosphere of a grandmother's flat, drawing the viewer's gaze to small things. And brightness and saturated tones symbolize beauty in simplicity.

Ears of wheat symbolize well-being and prosperity.
There is a Russian proverb: "To keep ears of wheat in the house, bread will not be translated" and "People believed in a long—standing omen: if you keep ears of wheat in the house, there will be prosperity and prosperity in it, it will be a full cup"

On the windowsill you can see: wheat ears, a vase, a Soviet kerosene lamp and a reel-to-reel tape recorder "Frost-302" (produced by the Novosibirsk Electromechanical Plant since 1972), which we inherited from our grandmother.

In this picture, I depict the second window of our veranda (you can see the first window in the painting "Dried Flowers"), where, like museum exhibits, Soviet household items stand alone. By doing this, I show that no one uses them now, except for a vase (highlighted in green). But at the same time, traditions are preserved.: We believe that wheat ears bring prosperity and prosperity to the home.

In this painting, I depict the interior of my grandmother's apartment in the hall: a Soviet floor lamp, a huge carpet on the wall, a sofa and an armchair with wooden armrests. The only thing that has changed since that time is the TV remote control. Nowadays, many elderly people will not be able to spend their day without news or TV shows.

After growing plants, my grandmother's second hobby was traditional medicine. My grandmother told me that my grandmother was a healer in the village. I think my grandmother's interest in non-traditional methods of treatment came from there. and passed it on to me. In addition to my creative work, I practice yoga and ancient Indian medicine, Ayurveda.

My childhood memory lies in this ordinary piece from the life of my grandmother's apartment.: how my cousin and I spent our winter holidays in this apartment, played chess on this couch, and fought for a place to sleep on it, because it was huge when it unfolded.

In the painting you can see the peak of the temple and the peaks of the sacred Himalayas illuminated by the rays of sunset. In the mountains, the sun sets much earlier, and night falls faster. There are two sources of light in this painting: natural and spiritual. The sun and the top of the ancient temple. They are somehow juxtaposed in the picture and complement each other, creating a harmony of being. The contrast of what is created by man and nature, the contrast of yellow and blue shades.

Now is the time when all knowledge (including ancient knowledge) is freely available online. But there used to be such a thing as the transfer of knowledge from teacher to student. That is, the teacher initiated his student into certain knowledge when he (the student) was ready for it. This tradition (parampara) is still preserved in India.

This painting depicts a temple with the well-known yoga symbol "OM" or "AUM" - in the Vedic tradition, this is the sacred sound of the universe. Compositionally, you can see that the temple is blocked or blocked by shadows - these are our mental limitations that prevent us from seeing the full picture. The ancient yogis believed that as soon as we purify our consciousness, all the forces of the universe will be available to us. This painting is the way to realize your infinite potential.

Once upon a time, the sages of the past (Gurus and Rishis) lived with their disciples remotely high in the mountains in mud huts. In the picture you can see the "evolution" of a small yellow hut into a large cottage with many panoramic windows. This suggests that with the advent of the Internet, electricity and other amenities of the modern world, huts have become irrelevant and not practical in the first place. Perhaps now is the time when you can lead a spiritual life regardless of the environment around you?

In the picture you see the same Swamiji cottage only from a different angle. Clouds seem to come out of it in the sky, and a waterfall flows down to the bottom. It symbolizes abundance on all levels. In India, it is believed that a true saint can fulfill your every wish, of course, only if it is sincere and comes from the depths of your heart.

The time when there is more and more garbage. The time of plastic bags, which I depicted almost in neon color in order to show their defiantly bright unnaturalness compared to the harmonious colors of the Altai nature.

Gorny Altai (Siberian region) is one of the few places on our planet where pristine, wild Nature has been preserved. But even today, a tourist's foot has already stepped there: the falling shadows of people with backpacks and trekking poles. And we know that when a person stepped into the world of wildlife, he almost always left something behind, whether it was leftovers that would rot or be processed by smaller microorganisms, or a plastic bottle that would lie and decompose for many, many years.

In this picture, I secretly noted: what tourists leave behind. But also the fact that these problems are gradually being solved. Almost next to any base during my travels in Altai, I saw tanks where to put garbage. Although these tanks were often overflowing, the good thing is that, at least, tourists did not leave garbage in the mountains, on hiking trails and by the river.

In the picture I depict the Uchar waterfall - this is the largest waterfall in the Altai Mountains, which is located in the Chulyshman valley.

Altai is ancient and at the same time civilized.

When I was still a little girl, and my parents and I stayed at some camp in Altai, it seemed like a luxury to me if there was a swimming pool. At that moment, I was the happiest child on the planet! But if I swam in the pool during the day, as the water warmed up, then in the morning and evening I had to settle for a washbasin with ice water. And if you are very lucky, there was a sauna, and there is a queue for it, because every tourist wants to go to the sauna after a hike in the mountains. At such moments, you begin to appreciate very simple, basic things. It's not for nothing that they say that traveling teaches you life much more than lessons at a desk.

In the picture "Guidebook", the main character is a car that dad bought when I was one year old. It was in this Toyota Granvia car that we always traveled to Altai. Needless to say, we live in it when traveling: we put down the back seats and lay the mattress. In the back seat of the painting, you just see a piece of a bright duvet cover illuminated by the sun.

The map "without borders" shows our route through Altai. The road highlighted in red is the Chuisky Tract, one of the most picturesque roads in the world. The yellow numbers are displayed in chronological order, in which my parents and I explored the territory of the Altai Mountains.

All that is behind the mirror is the untouched wild nature of Altai. Everything that is reflected in the mirror is a modern reality: tourist camp with televisions (an antenna on the roof of one of the houses), fences with advertising signs, inviting guests and fenced territories (private property). All this is enclosed in a plastic mirror nailed to ordinary boards.

This is a memory from my trip to Altai. The place is located near the popular and extreme Katu Yaryk pass. We stopped at this camp, from where we went to the mountains to the waterfalls. On one of my trips, I took a picture in this mirror as a keepsake. The view was very attractive, and I found a peculiar aesthetic in it: a combination of plastic, wood and green mountains behind.

The painting depicts one of the Altai mountain passes, where there are always stacked stones and ribbons or pieces of cloth tied on branches. For the Altaians, the pass is a sacred place, which is why they stack stones and knit ribbons on trees, thus flavoring the spirits of the mountain. Now many Altai passes have become tourist spots where people can buy souvenirs, have a snack and relax.

In this picture there is a slide of stones and a slide of garbage, like a clash of epochs and civilizations. In ancient times, peoples left behind a trace in the form of stone structures and rock paintings, but now we leave behind a trace of plastic, no matter how sad it may sound. In Altai, as elsewhere in Russia, there is a question of garbage collection, separate collection and recycling.

The map in this picture shows the way from Novosibirsk to the Altai Republic, because most tourists in Altai are from Novosibirsk (and I am one of them). This time the map is decorated in blue-blue color and is located as if in the sky. By doing this, I wanted to show that the environmental issue does not affect any particular place or state, now it is already a global problem that it is important and necessary to talk about.

The time of traveling in Russia, when many European resorts became inaccessible to Russians. The tourist destination "Gorny Altai" is becoming more and more popular. Everyone already knows that this is a place of unique beauty, a "place of power".

I'm portraying myself in the mirror. When I was little, my parents and I often went to Altai, but I remember one trip especially, it was a trip to the majestic Belukha Mountain, the highest point of Siberia. We spent the night overlooking it, there was a strong cliff nearby, and the Katun River flowed into the gorge - the mistress of these mountains (so the local people believe). Mom wove a wreath for me, put it next to a huge fir tree and took a picture with an old Cannon camera. I am 10 years old in this photo.

In the picture, in the reflection of the mirror, you see the same view of Belukha, and in the lower part of the picture I depict a map of the Altai Republic, which marks the places where we visited: Chulyshmanskaya Valley, Chuisky tract, Aktru Glaciers and the village of Tyungur, from which all trekking to Belukha begins. But I also depicted on the map a hard-to-reach place where I have not been yet, but I dream of visiting - this is the Ukok plateau. It is very unusual: in 1993, a mummy of a young woman was found there, who became known in Russia as the Ukoka Princess or the Altai Princess.

The painting "Trips to Altai" is memories of the past and dreams of the future.

Padukas are not just the oldest shoes, but a cultural symbol of the East. Pillows are the cheapest and most affordable shoes. For this reason, they are preferred by people who do not seek prosperity: beggars, sadhus (spiritual seekers), saints and gurus (teachers). As a result, padukas have become a symbol of holiness.

For me personally, this picture has a deep meaning at the level of the heart.
Through her, I had the opportunity to express my love and gratitude to my Guru. A blooming lotus signifies perfection and purity at all levels, which only true spiritual Teachers possess.

The painting is a participant of the "Summer Contemporary Art Fair 2024" in Belova Art Gallery, Kazan.

The painting shows the same remote place - an ashram in the foothills of the Himalayas. In ancient times, it was believed that an ashram was a place where a person cleanses himself by observing certain austerities /restrictions / fasting. For example, you can not drink coffee and tea, you need to strictly follow a vegetarian diet and so on. To this day, most ashrams in India adhere to these rules, but not this one. The Om Swami Ashram is a very special place. Firstly, it is unlike an ordinary ashram with very modest accommodation conditions, it rather resembles a good 3-star hotel somewhere in the Alps. In this picture, I explore the clash of prejudices and beliefs: you see a thatched hut where it says "Coffee".

In the ashrams of India, there is such a thing as "seva" - "service", in fact it is voluntary work. During my stay at the retreat in the Himalayas, I wanted to help, and I was offered to help a girl in a coffee shop.

In the painting "Coffee shop" I depict the place of my service, symbolically showing with bright colors that this activity was a joy to me!

I made a sketch for the painting during my stay in solitude in the Himalayas. In the picture you see an unusual cottage house, which does not look at all like a typical Hindu house. This cottage belongs to the saint, Himalayan mystic, spiritual leader and bestselling author Om Swami. Om Swami is not an ordinary guru: he does not accept any offerings in the form of money, and fully provides for himself. 200 years ago, this would have been unheard of, but now in the 21st century it is possible to lead a life of renunciation interacting with the material world.

The painting "Swamiji's Cottage" is a continuation of the painting "Paduki". Around the painting itself, you see a kind of frame in the form of bright colors - this is what I feel when I am in the Himalayas in the presence of a saint: the rise of creative energy, the brightness of the mind, harmony and peace. There is a citation from Om Swami written, which I remember very well:
«Live. Love. Laugh. Give»

The Himalayas stood a thousand years ago and still stand, little has changed in them. But if you look closely, you will notice small areas of human activity: rice plantations and a piece of road illuminated by headlights.

A night spent in the Himalayas can't be compared to anything. Meditation in the Himalayas is like nothing else. It is not for nothing that they say that these mountains have a special energy and atmosphere. And there is a simple explanation for this: sages (rishis) have been practicing spiritual practices in these mountains for centuries, and it is also believed that yoga originated here.

In my painting, I depicted what I saw while I was there: a fabulous starry sky, the deep green color of the mountains and a murmuring river skirting the rocks.

Then I went to India. Upon returning from the trip, my paintings became saturated with color again. I began to apply the precision of forms, as in academic painting, and at the same time the method of graphic sketches with markers, as I did in my sketchbooks during the trip.

Each of my paintings carries a certain message, thought, symbol. You can often find the philosophy of yoga in my work - this is something that is close to me. I also like to write everyday life, that is, what surrounds me: my home, pets, relatives and friends.

Now my paintings are expressions of my inner world. I like to depict the spiritual cultures of Russia and India.

I have one mantra before any trip: "Don't forget to put a sketchbook and markers in your backpack."

"Together with my husband, we purchased paintings from Antonina (right from her studio!) that she painted while studying at art school. The painting 'Home' has already found a place in our interior. However, we haven't decided on a spot for the painting 'Sayans' yet, as it needs to be displayed in perspective. We thank Antonina for her creativity!"

In the summer of 2024, I bought a beautiful painting "Amritapuri Ocean" from Antonina at the "Amma's Embracing the World Art Auction". Antonina took great pictures of her painting, and in reality the painting looks exactly the same as in the photo. After I bought the painting, Antonina contacted me and we agreed on an international delivery from Russia to Germany. She sent it by Russian post and kept me informed of all events: she sent me photos of how she packed the parcel, documents, as well as the number of the shipment by mail and approximate delivery time (about 1 month). The painting was delivered in perfect condition. The Amritapuri Ocean has now found its place in my home. The painting is so beautiful and makes me feel warm every time I look at it!
